Plnty Fashion: Timeless pieces
Fashion for pregnancy and forever by Olivia Wright
Hi everyone, and thank you for having me Julia!
I’m Olivia. I'm a former fashion founder turned newsletter writer, content creator and mom of two.
Fashion has been the focus of my career for a few decades now, but my relationship to it completely changed when I had kids. Clothes became less about making a statement, or any kind of external validation, and more about my own experience and needs. A shift I'm grateful for!
I was cleaning out my closet this week, and four pieces stood out to me.
Why? Because I got them when I was pregnant, and still love them today (my kids are now 6 and 3!) They've lived so much life with me, and if I were giving shopping advice to anyone pregnant right now they're the first pieces I'd recommend:
An Oversized Button-Up
This ($69.95) is a wardrobe staple that I love wearing now as much as I did when I was pregnant. I also breastfed in this a ton. Today, it's one of the easiest things in my closet to throw on for school pick-up.
A Black Doen Dress
I have a black Doen dress that became my go-to anytime I needed to be dressed when I was pregnant, and it's still one of my favorites today. If you have an event, or just need a dress while you're pregnant but don't want to buy something you won't wear longterm, Doen is where I'd start. The exact one I have isn't available anymore but this ($278) is what I'd recommend now. Black is great for when you're out with your kids and they inevitably smear something sticky on you :)
The Perfect Sweatshirt
One of the most worn things ($185) in my closet! It was just as cozy postpartum as it was yesterday when I took my kids to their Sunday sports.
Matta Dress
This ($326) style from Matta is the kind of dress you'll live in whether you're pregnant or not. I wore it so much that I have it in two colors now.
I hope this was helpful and if you're pregnant, or TTC, you may also love my mom list! I made it for my best friends who got pregnant after me and it's filled with my personal notes and lessons learned.
With much love,
Olivia
